Why Protect Blasphemy Laws?

Because Blasphemy Is Not Freedom — It’s a Weapon

Blasphemy Is Not Freedom — It’s a Weapon

In the name of "freedom of expression," blasphemy is increasingly used to provoke Muslims, attack sacred beliefs, and destabilize societies. But Islam, like every major religion, treats sacredness as non-negotiable. The Qur’an warns:

“Indeed, those who abuse Allah and His Messenger – Allah has cursed them in this world and the Hereafter.”

(Surah Al-Ahzab 33:57)

“Do not insult those they invoke besides Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge.”

(Surah Al-An‘am 6:108)

True freedom does not mean license to mock the divine. Free speech has boundaries everywhere — against hate speech, racism, defamation. Why should sacred beliefs be any different?

The Islamic Duty to Protect the Prophet’s ﷺ Honor

Loving Prophet Muhammad ﷺ more than anything in the world is part of our imaan. He said:

“None of you has faith until I am more beloved to him than his father, his children, and all of mankind.”

(Bukhari & Muslim)

Blasphemy laws allow Muslims to fulfill this duty through law, not emotion. They channel love into legal justice, not mob reaction.

Pakistan’s Blasphemy Laws Are Not the Problem — They Are the Shield

Pakistan’s blasphemy laws protects the honor of the Prophet ﷺ — the most sacred line in Muslim identity. This law exists to:

  • Prevent chaos and vigilantism.
  • Provide legal remedy when sacred symbols are attacked.
  • Protect public peace in a religious society.

When blasphemy goes unpunished, people feel betrayed. That’s why blasphemy laws are essential for both national unity and religious dignity.

The Global Reality: Blasphemy Destroys Peace

When blasphemy is tolerated:

  • 139+ people died after Denmark’s Prophet cartoons (2005).
  • 12 journalists killed in France (Charlie Hebdo, 2015).
  • Entire Muslim nations erupted in protest against Quran burnings and caricatures.

These incidents show: the world cannot afford to normalize blasphemy. It is a global trigger point for unrest, division, and extremism.

Even Western countries once had blasphemy laws — because no society can survive open attacks on what is sacred to millions.

Refuting Common Lies

ClaimTruth
Blasphemy laws kill free speech. No — they only target malicious insults, not academic or civil discourse.
The law is misused.Every law can be misused. Fix misuse, not the law. False accusers should be punished, not the law repealed.
These laws harm minorities.False. Laws apply to anyone who insults — Muslim or non-Muslim. In fact, they protect all religions.

Why the World Needs Boundaries Around Sacredness

Every religion honors something:

  • Christians revere Jesus and the Cross.
  • Jews sanctify Moses and the Torah.
  • Hindus respect Krishna, Ram, and idols.

Muslims revere the Prophet ﷺ, the Qur’an, and Allah's names.

Blasphemy laws are not about forcing belief. They are about preserving peace, mutual respect, and dignity.

The Bigger Picture: Soft Power, NGOs, and Cultural Attacks

Foreign-funded NGOs and media often promote "freedom of speech" only when it hurts Muslims.

International NGOs, human rights secular activists, and some other groups and countries are pushing to:

  • Abolish Blasphemy Laws in Pakistan.
  • Free convicted blasphemers.
  • Label defenders of Islam as extremists.

This is not about rights. It’s about disarming the Muslim world, mocking our Prophet ﷺ, and silencing our outrage.

No Compromise on the Honor of the Prophet ﷺ

We don’t act on our own — we demand the law act. That is the Islamic, legal, and civil way.

Our Stand:

  • Protect the Prophet’s ﷺ Honor
  • Preserve Pakistan’s Blasphemy Laws
  • Establish Global Respect for All Faiths
  • Say No to Foreign Manipulation of Sacred Values
